PCC Lion Terry Hartzell
PCC Terry Hartzell is a native of the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, and moved to Northern, VA after graduating from Bucknell University. In 1968, due to accepting a job with IBM he relocated to Linwood, NJ. In 1976 he moved his family to Apalachin, New York, where he subsequently joined the Lions Club in 1979 alongside several colleagues. During his tenure in Apalachin, PCC Terry served as Club President, District Governor from 2012 to 2013, followed by Council Chair from 2013 to 2014. He has also participated in nine International Conventions – Birmington, England, Busan, South Korea, Hamburg, Germany, Chicago (2), Toronto, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Philadelphia and 2 USA/Canada Forums.
His most significant and fulfilling experience as a Lion was his involvement with the Vision Screening program. Notably, during a screening event in Rochester, New York, a child was identified with a tumor behind her eye, a condition that would have been fatal if not detected during vision screening.
In 2014, Terry and his wife, Diane, moved to Mechanicsburg to be nearer to their grandsons -Findley and Alexander – and their families Heather/Matt Crudder and Sean/Leann Hartzell.

Upcoming and Recent Activities
Stay updated with our latest club activities and upcoming service opportunities. We are constantly working on new ways to serve Mechanicsburg and the surrounding areas.
Upcoming:
Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends Fundraiser – Discount Coupons have been distributed to all club members to sell. In-store sale dates are Oct. 1st and 20th, both from 2-6 pm. Day of sale is October. 21st with our in-store sale time and location is TBA.
Legends Car Show – Sept 19th we will be helping with handing out snacks, socializing with the residents and helping with chair outside.
Pink Hands of Hope Service Project – Sept 28th 9 am – 11/12 am/pm will be cleaning up the landscaping and projects inside.
Harvest Festival – Oct. 9th 2-6 pm. At Finkenbinder Park a local community festival will be doing crafts for children and marketing our Lions club.
Halloween Parade – October. 13th 4:45-7:15 pm. Club will be assisting organizing the parade at multiple locations.

180 Ministries – Aug 14th. 180 Game Night – On Aug 14th our Lions brought fun, food and friendly competition to 180 Ministries Game Night. It was another fun-filled evening for the Mechanicsburg Lions Club as club members teamed up with 180 Ministries for a lively Game Night! Club Business Meeting – Our Aug. 11th business meeting had guest speakers, Lions Shelly Bitting & Joel Wierman from “Your PA Move Manager”. A very insightful presentation outlined their services. Lions Step Up to Support Community Aid! – August 8 was a busy—and very rewarding—day for our fellow Lions who volunteered at the Community Aid Sale! The store and parking lot was packed with shoppers looking for “Back to School” clothing and other great finds. National Night Out – The Mechanicsburg Lions attended the festivities on August 4th at Soldiers and Sailors Park, Mechanicsburg and Stoney Ridge Park, Silver Spring with kids activities and conducting vision screenings for those interested. Mechanicsburg Community Day – The Mechanicsburg Lions participated in the days activities at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park. We monitored the kids inflatable mountain slide and obstacle course. Operation Wildcat – Service was in full swing on Saturday, July 25, as 12 Mechanicsburg Lions volunteered their time to support Operation Wildcat’s Project Clothing. Beacon Lodge Pa Lions Appreciation Day. – Members of the Mechanicsburg Lions Club attended the Beacon Lodge Appreciation Day on July 19th. Our club strongly supports Beacon Lodge which provides “summer camp” programs for disabled children and adults along with offering these same programs to disabled veterans and families. “We Serve” Golf Tournament – The tournament was held on July 10th and was an outstanding success with 112 golfers and 87 sponsors. The fundraising profits far exceeded last year’s totals. The club looks forward to another exciting day of golf next year on July 9, 2027. Please mark your calendars so as not to miss out on all the fun.
